You asked me for my thoughts My emotions are on trial What am I supposed to say to you To answer a fight I cannot win He stayed for months in the bed That we for nine years shared Yet in your time of need My life put on hold I am shunned once again Banished to the outside As a common thief in the night Used and released into the wild Only asked back into the fold So you can discuss the one you were with And watching the sunrise on your return From finding him in a bar While I remained true to the dream Perhaps I misunderstood your meaning When you said we could make it work Put our lives together again A promise was made For truth, honest, and love The fault being mine after all Trusting love in a jackal Who cares for herself least of all We see the light of those |
