tonight
Death sold me beer and cigarettes

he was trying on a new set of clothes

I used to know those clothes as Sam
I hadn't seen Sam in months but
I had known Sam for years
                          though
he doesnt know my name
only my brands
                and my quick thankyou's

But I know Sam
and Sam didn't own his own clothes anymore
            Death had moved in
         and apparently didn't like
     the way Sam's clothes fit
Death thought perhaps
      that Sam needed to be
taken in
               fitted tighter
to show his skull off better
maybe
accentuate the veins in his neck
Oh but here in the belly YES!
lets expand IT!
            swell it out absurdly
                                 to be
     Death's lollipop
                       a slow sucker-
cancerous tongue
dragging slow across it
          with Death's lusty eyes
gazing at me like laughing lover

My eyes barely reach You Sam
your voice barely reaching my ears
with a price
              shouting past
     the
        greedy
              tailor
standing between

                  us

Brian...I am in awe...and YOU are amazing.
This is just 'wow' poetry.  I'll be coming
back to read this one again..after I've slept
a bit and can actually put together a coherent response..LOL.

Very cool write, sir.  Love it.

Ok Bri - this is a sort of creepy reply - but somehow you make Death look beautiful, I have seen this a lot and when you mentioned the belly - knew exactly what you were speaking of . . . you presented this so I could SEE Sam . . . or death
