Unusually peaceful, meander by name
As he stumbled upon her, it would seem faith took lame
Yet his eyes never left her, visits made ankle deep
Although venture stayed close to the edges in creep

Now you know something happened, just by nature alone
And she played in his footsteps, by his side sometimes known
When he felt her pulse quicken, he was light on his feet
But she tickled and soaked of his cuffs in retreat

Her banks heard his coming, swelled tears his depart
But remained ever faithful to a passage by heart
Then one day she discovered she arose his approach
Spilling over her banks to his boundaries encroach

Then his pulse became racy, and his hands became steel
And much to her surprise, built a wall with great zeal
Seemed he stood just beyond any reach she could make
Sometimes adding a boulder, winding passage to take

And she feared she offended his eyes with her years
So meander became overflowing with tears
Until one day by chance, as she thought all was lost
And the spring that had fed her became silent with frost

Though meander she will, sometimes thinned and filleted
Subtle fingers stretched out under walls he had made
And she touched him quite gently, in the deepest caress
Something happened quite well, for he missed her I guess

In the dawn quite surprising, for apparently fate
As meander streamed on, she discovered a gate
And the wall that was built seemed to change it’s intent
For the stream seemed protected to the fullest extent
