"IN ANTICIPATION OF IT ALL"
by Inkedgoddess & Bill Charles
~~~~
Something suspended
one lone note hanging; for
in the distance
you could hear another
star-crossed love song play
from deep within,
a stir began,
one spark acknowledged,
shadows embrace below a joggers trail,
as two strangers run in silence
exchanging the glances of first intrigue
and then
a smile, a nod, and finally
a “good morning”
with expectation
of perhaps more,
but so forlorn the trees
now encircle only
silent footprints,
as renovations
on the country road
have closed the path
and I’m left to wonder
which fork did the
blue-eyed jogger take…
One is left wanting
in this a melody,
as a love song from deeper
inside sings out,
if one listens to the
longing whispers,
an awakening is naught
only to become what
might between two
strangers lost but in
need, eyes gaze, hands
reach, but not taken,
a ‘good morning’ lost
not to be known, but
in anticipation of it all
a desire is of more,
but then I awaken and the
dream leaves, nothing left
but silence, for
I travel the path of lovers
in shadows, and I’m poignant
with wonderment of what
could have been if the path
marked by longing would
I have taken…
yes, those darn forks in the road, how do we ever know at the time which one to love?
I have read this wonderful piece several times...savoring its beauty.  This is indeed incredible writing.  I could have quoted the entire poem...the line above just struck me.
You two have created excellence.
This is a genuine work of art. A duet of beauty about the chance of love that comes in a second, that crosses our paths and our hearts carried on the wings of the Almighty.
Wonderful poem, you two. ***Ivy Rose
Outstanding poem you two.
Enjoyed the intrigue, the anticipation
the gaze, and especially the good morning.
And this...
One is left wanting
in this a melody,
as a love song from deeper
inside sings out,
if one listens to the
longing whispers,
So nice, you two are a compliment to poetry.
Bravo bravo~
