Under the canopy of lagoon water leaves
hide green marble clusters
piquant with the taste of early summer
an exclamation     wrinkled nose
Quiz the fence now hanging post

Believe
the rake is primed
teeth holding still for fall
and change comes to all I see this
in a grape across time     wait
soon the cement alley will be river
one day the rain will fall and all
and glory be in taste of sweet recall

Mike...to look up a word is a good thing, to admit that you did, even better.   Thanks for the read.

wise words, and soon blooms of summer will
live in on shelves, in cans
and that's how it goes, i guess.......

your personification is second to none...
nor is your imagery...
I see the drought is influencing your muse...

Martie, it is like you are speaking while painting a picture....one that has scents and tastes as well as colour!! hugs, Chris

When you wrote this
we were wine-sampling
with some very good friends...

a grape across time, indeed...

making me smile, you are...

I've never done that, Martie... never looked at the world of today and saw it across time... but I think that I will from now on.

Thank you so much for this... you're an incredible woman with a fantastic mind.  Times will change and the old will be left behind, the new will be brought... the cement will be a river... but I hope these words you've written will live to see as much of it as possible.

In an emergency.
