in the shadows

I'm carrying the pleasures
of a shadowed mind;
the lies I believe in
are all too kind;
they thrive in the softness
of an easy choice,
and honesty is whispered
in a cracking voice,
blown away and shattered,
leaving only noise behind,
ignored in the roaring winds
of reason going blind.

Funny, I see a sharp mind and so much honesty that sometimes it's hard to take it in, like now.

"I'm carrying the pleasures

How often we live the unreality of shadowed minds.  We want to blieve those lies that are "all too kind."  You speak with great clarity and depth of feeling.  I was moved deeply.  I prefer to believe it came from experience not artistic license.
