By day, two tigers sleek within their territory
In bounds defended from the vagrant predatory
Determining that walks are made to be in solitary
Un-strayed and focused from all outside commentary

And solely competition was the driving force
The blood red river surging on its pointed course
So finely tuned to heart, between the lush of green
A different designation, they wandered sight unseen

Until the dusk drew near at camps abandoned then
Campfire coals still glowing brought faces to the glen
Discovered of each other, curiosity took hold
But which would give the inch or offer such so bold?

And time continued onward, occasion to be there
Disturbing and misunderstood the sparks that caught their stare
They each kept to their side until the glow took flame
When similar the striping brought to vision of the same

By then the threat was over, she couldn’t look away
And he stood straight and rippled in the wind of yesterday
As night dropped velvet cloak on boundaries that were drawn
She found a place uncharted yet, and lay there ‘til the dawn

And chill of night brought firelight to shadows soul intent
The tumbling of round about and moistened merriment
When finally it came to be a soothing here and now
When silken undersides brushed close, encircled smiles endow

Co-mingling bellied up and stretching pawed impress
Entangled through the darkness purred back and forth far less
And sleek to sable petted, and growl diminished fear
And as the firelight shadows through that time, these two endear

I liked this verse most of all, simply because of the explicit human nature it conveys, and the thoughts it brings to mind.

And solely competition was the driving force
The blood red river surging on its pointed course
So finely tuned to heart, between the lush of green
A different designation, they wandered sight unseen

I enjoyed reading you off the beaten path Kathleen.  You are such a multi talented  poetess and I am in awe every time I read you.

I'm running out of words, and I'm sure I've said exquiste many times about your poetry, but it is!
