Grasping,
           Reaching,
                       Dancing.
I sense the untamed, thorny vines
Will writhe in restless anticipation
This long night through.

I feel the change from dusk to dark
So spectacular, serene, and yet ~ subtle.

Slowly the moon emerges on tonight's stage.
This magnificant maestro conducts
Maple boughs to play sweet violins
In a mesmerizing summer symphony
Composed just for me.

With precison she instructs
Percussion of the surf and sea,
Pounding,
       Crashing,
            and then ...
                     Gently lapping,
Sending my receptive, but weary mind
So softly and tenderly reeling
To yet another far off place of wonder.

Dew kissed leaves on tendrils
Uncurl in such a swish and sway
As if to softly say in their whispered way,
“Sleep soundly my dear one
Before a new morn is born.”

All too soon strong gusts of morning
Carry fragrant songs
So long forgotten even before
The first light falls.

The waft of lavender
Seems to give its permission
So I stay in my dream
Just one more chapter.

As if on command
The sun and I rise in unison.
So much alike we stretch our limbs
To lighten and bright this summer day.

Intently now I listen
To the zephyr’s murmur
As he whispers through the withy limbs
Caressing in his path, every tender bud.
I see him dart and dash kissing
The fresh petals damp with glistening dew.

All the while as I smile,
The roses ever so coquettishly
Held in strong arching vines,
Quiver in tease as they bloom.
Grasping,
          Reaching,
                       Dancing.
As we all awaken to the remnants of
A lazy lavender lullaby.

Sharon...this is beautiful!
It reads like a soft, gentle lullaby.
Wonderfully done, my friend.

How'd you know I needed a lavender dream tonight???
Lovely poem, peaceful feelings flowing from this one. I think I just might be able to sleep now. It's after midnight here, but I'll be up by 5AM.

G'nite from midnite!

Well thank you - I wrote this about 3 this morning, so much for it working as I didn't get to hug the pillow until about 5 a.m. but when I did - wow - the lavender dreams were pretty incredible at least for 3 hours Thanks again.

Oh, hon, this is just spectacular and is now one of my all-time favorites that you have written. Sweet lady, you write great stuff in the middle of the night!

I'm waiting to hear of your antics in P-town!  Just remember, you cannot be the 'Drama Queen' in that town!

Sharon, I really don't know the words to describe just how beautiful this is to me. It is so peaceful...like I was walking in a beautiful garden of flowers, with the fragrances all around. I'm going to keep this so that I can take this stroll often. I hope that you don't mind.

Composed just for me.

Always, you captivate your audience
with a gentle hush and fine tune.

Just beautiful, Mysteria~

Ah sweet people but you have to see Cape Cod for her soul becomes part of yours and makes your very spirit overflow with such beauty you have to share.  I am delighted that you enjoyed my sharing of her while I was here, and I truly thank you for always reading my effort at poetry.

I don't want to know where I am going, as it ruins the journey.   Carpe' Diem

Hi, I bet you are tired from all that traveling! This is so soothing and fragrant, I can smell it through the glass.
(I did a lavender poem once too)

Beautiful...simply beautiful...

I grow Lavender as well...and dry it to have the scent linger around the house in the winter.

There is something about lavander that tends to soothe a raging soul and make it peaceful.  I guess that is why this is one of the most sold products on the market and I thank you all for your lovely comments on the scent that inspired this poem.  Well off to lullaby land I go, for hopefully more lavender dreams.  Night all.
