I strolled into a shoppe of olde
I felt the quivering within
then I spied a tarnished spoon
there within an old jewel bin.

This was different--the same.
I saw myself there in the drain
holes to hold a cube within--
and I could wear this on a chain.

Only I knew what it was
remembering the emerald green
melting sweet into my cups
revealing all that used to be.

Dancing sacred--intimate
I could smell the pungent herb--
liquid magma of absynthe
and the aftertaste of word.

Visions I had seen before
bittered by the memory.
Thus I knew the sugarcube
and slowly dripped lucidity

down across a blackened spoon--
one that never knew the match.
Tarnish takes some time to bloom.
I purchased her and grieved my lack.

Well, I've read this at least a dozen times now,
and it just touches more deeply each time.
I don't really know the words to say, so...

Love you, lady...lots.

you have not truly met the poet.

your rhymes rock baby...
damn I love the way you braid cadence around emotions...

and this line....
this one just kicks poetic butt....

Tarnish takes some time to bloom.
*shaking me head at you*

Well ... OK ... but you have to wash it first.

(bumper sticker humor) ;)

K - you have brought me through many times here indeed . . . at least what I left with it . .  reminded me of days I would rather forget but not - you know?

If I touched that old spoon now
I would melt it down instead
and with foaming dross spilled out
the black curse might leave my head
