state of confusion

The wolf relies on scent and a sharp eye –
he knows nothing save the taste of blood,
the flesh that fills his gut. He has no gods
to whisper hints of something more.

We are the blessed beings of thought;
we imprint our children with our deeds –
creating small armies of us.

We can follow what we’re taught,
speak safely in the vernacular,
and nod in the comfort of other voices -
acquiescence that murder can be just.

We can bend words into tiny boats
to float in the gutter of promoted thought

or,

we can choose to give wings to new ideas,
send paper planes into the breeze,
against the current –

even if we fly alone.

Excellent write Corinne!
Wish I could ramble this well on a Monday morn...
or any morning for that matter.

I'm always out here somewhere...I hope you are doing well.

Did I ever mention how glad I am that you came here?
