Moved from a shack to a barn

Sitting

Waiting

For that turn of phrase
That thought
That word

That starts the pen in motion
Attempting to define a nebulous notion

Much as the Ancients must have
When sifting through that field of stars
Connecting the dots in the black of night
Endeavoring to define the unfathomable

Staring into the sky inside my eyelids
I try to find an inspiration
Within the bright spots displayed there

The Warrior
The Lover
The Artist

Always careful to avert my gaze
From the empty places in between

For there is where I’ll find the topics
That I cannot yet visit

And so, I remain

Sitting

Waiting

Look to the North Star
always constant
always giving
always there

tonight, when the moon is full...

find it, just there...

and your pen shall have
new ink
and your mind be filled
with muse.

Ed, this is just beautiful. You amaze me, ya know?

Ah, those dark spaces and empty places - I feel them everytime I awaken.

Well said, Wranx!

Ed...Isn't it interesting what an inspired poem comes out of being uninspired? Sure do understand this feeling!

Ed:

amazing . . . when I was little I always used to stare at the dots and make pictures out of them in my mind . . .
Ok that was weird - but you know what I mean

in silent awe

Hmmmmm
Feels more like astronomy to my ol' bones.
The dark places in the night that I am drawn to . . .
But, never mind, I like this anyway.
Well done, Sir.

Hey, at least you got bright spots!!  My eyelids aren't nearly as well decorated.
