She Knew What To Do

There was a time when I
didn't want to let her go.
I couldn't let her go for she
was too valuable to me.

There was a time when
I started thinking that
I might have to let her go.
There were too many
encounters that were fake.
Too many indicators pointing
towards the word mistake.

There was a time when
I was almost certain
that I had to let her go.
But I didn't want to look
her in the eye and say goodbye.
I wanted to hold on desperately
to what I thought we
could be.

But everyday that went by had
a new lesson to teach to me.
I started to understand
that we would never be what
I thought we could be.
No matter how much I wanted
to hold onto her physically,
emotionally, desperately.

There was a time when
we were through.

She knew what to do.

James:

At least you came to the realization that your relationship would not work out, and believe it or not,in a case such as this, that is a good thing...now you can move on, to something better ......good expression of your experience....ice

Thank you skyfire and ice for the nice responses...
Yes, but you desperately want it to work out...this was long ago on a cold dark night...so I'm alright...still miss the parts that did work out...James

Thanks janette, passing shadows, timothysangel and Temptress for responding.
Hard to tell if thats good or bad from the responses...
Its a hard place to be when you start realizing that you're probably with the wrong woman and yet there are so many things you like about her you hate to let go...but you know in the long run it will never work out...so how long do you hold on...when you don't want to let go but you know that you have to...this is an old relationship...but I'm still trying to sort it out...James
