Naked, exposed
Shivering, vulnerable
I stand before you -
Carefully woven defenses
Stripped and tossed aside.
Subject to censure and
Lacking embellishment
I wait for judgment
Harboring faint hope
You’ll find beauty in bare.
Then suddenly your tears
Clothe me in love
Wrap me in wonder.
I find there’s armor
In acceptance.

Oh Suthern...this is absolutely wonderful.  So true when others accept us for who we are... even better though, when we accept ourselves for who we are.  Then we find our strength.

I love this!  A wonderful write.

Wow -- impressive! And haven't we all felt this, hoping but not knowing, and with no self-assurance that we'll be accepted, that anybody will respond or even care. Beautifully done, Laura. Into the library with this one!

======================

and you wear it well my dear...you wear it well...and self love and acceptance is a really good color for you.
Is this a poem you ask?
Indeed...a quite lovely one at that...free verse or rhyme...your words are always in style when designed with such sincerety and humility.

Well ... OK ... but you have to wash it first.

My GAWD this is the most beautiful poem I've ever read by you...I have a new favourite.
This is a MUST have for my library...and perhaps one day I'll find the same self-love/acceptance in myself and from another.

Ruth, when we finally get the courage to bare our inner emotions, it is so comforting to feel the acceptance and unconditional love of others. Isn't it? I know this very well. Thank you for sharing your heart with us, my friend.
Hugs  to you
Ethel

rofg@"truly a great piece"
*shakes her head* you are the hardest woman to compliment I have ever seen.......rofg
but I love you
and I agree...it is one of your best, course I am partial to free verse...and?? I thought you said you couldn't...write in free verse that is?...hope you don't stop....
this is exceptional, tis a sad memory that you invoke with this...but at least it is there to invoke...sigh...if not I would have to say that this you write of is a lie.......
sad monday....forgive my despondance...
