~* Periwinkle Sonota *~

Reaching for the sky,
The tendrils of ivy and morning glory
outside the open window
Dance wildly in the zephyr’s murmur
Like crinkled cellophane
breaking the silence of this
Long humid night.

My accute expectations of grandeur
Have long ago stolen my sleep.
Gazing off into the distance
Through the haze on the horizon
I can see , hear, and feel
Million of stretching fingertips
from arms of maple, oak, birch
Sassafras, and wispy wisteria.
In unison they play their notes.
They are such sweet soul sighs
to the sound of a million violins,
Awakening my very soul.
This God given harmony
Is dawn’s lullaby to awaken
The softness of a new morning wind.

Ever so softly a periwinkle sonata
So delicately composed
Echoes its shrill high notes
Through wisteria, lupines,
Peonies, and cosmos,
Then so lightly it whispers its lows
To the bouquets of impatience, pansies,
And the damp earth’s blanket
Whose loose threads
dance and sway in the breeze.
Before the first light falls
This soothing song flows on
Tendrils winding and curving,
Swishing in its sassy whispered sway.

Suddenly the sun-kissed zephyr stops.
It caresses a solitary tender, pink rosebud.
So tenderly it kisses the petals
Of her dew dripped velvet eyelashes
Quivering quite coquettishly
in silent wait of sun to bloom
On this glorious and miraculous new day.

Exquisite!
This is one of the most beautiful pieces you've gifted us! I'm keeping it, and whenever I need a bountiful bouquet, I can bring this back into my field of vision.

The only thing wrong with these posies
is that they can't join you on your shopping
sprees...

other than that, a more than delightful poem!

Sharon, it would have been a real shame if I had missed this beautiful post of yours. Your poetry was mellifluous, lyrical, magical...and the floral images, divine!

Thank you for this lovely oasis!

a wonderfully lovely song, Mysteria

the pics delightful, the tender melody of a floral medly is exquisite

I do think you mean "impatiens" rather than impatience though. Only mentioning to be helpful. Hope you don't mind.

Oh Sharon, this is so charming and so Cape Cod. It felt so restful which I'm hoping means you are in slo-motion and enjoying your time with Nan.

Sensational pictures; I especlially loved the wisteria.

Hugs dear friend, Marti

You are all so wonderful taking the time to share a hot, and humid night with me.  It actually was a rustle of leaves that woke me and it kind of "blossomed" from there at about midnight.

I wish I could thank each of you individually but I just returned from a B-52 concert "without air-conditioning" and was jumping around like a 16 year old for an hour and a half at least, someone get my geritol will ya?  I am dying a slow death now from pain just kidding, but zonked and had to see if anyone read this - so thank you all so much and I think you are going to enjoy our next poem (pssst - it is in Mature Content LOL) after this weekend's visit to Provincetown.  Thanks again!

So like the wispy wisteria, Mysteria, you're writing is such a pretty sight to behold.

Thank you for sharing the beauty in poetry and friendship, and entwining every facet so gloriously.  Many many hugs for you~
