Why is sex so strange
a thing to occupy
so many hearts and minds?
It's not like it requires thought,
like algebra,
or prayer,
or making a souffle
or being a good pick pocket.
It is as easy as falling off
well...
whatever....
Any somewhere,
any sometime,
any some way,
people
are getting together.
There are over six billion
whining
scheming
self-indulgent
talking monkeys
on this ball of rock and water;
that didn't happen
because sex is too complicated
to share
with almost any son or daughter.
Yeah, OK,
it does require a certain touch,
but if it's anything
it's completely understated.
"Oh look;
it has your nose."
"Like hell it does;
I'm keeping mine
thank very much."
Watch TV;
everything is sold with sex,
just a hint,
a wary glint of eye
or sly suggestive innuendo.
Or we Calvin Klein it,
over shine it ,
shove it in your face
until you choke.
God almighty!
Watch the News;
the talking heads
sternly accuse a murderer
of having pornography,
in junk email
on a broken down PC,
in his basement
with his mushroom pets
for friends.
Forget he is a murderer.
Ever check your email?
I check mine
and it divinely offers up
each day
uncounted variations
on the same old tired theme.
Insert part "A"
into part "B"
and maybe share it
with part "C"
and don't despair
if no one cares,
just send your credit card
it's almost as good as free.

Chuckling here, iceman, except, it's not so funny when you open the email and are bombarded with porno ads. I am going to do away with my MSN hotmail account for that very reason.
As for all the media hoopla, as you've noticed, it doesn't take great skill or heavily convoluted grey matter to do the deed.

icebox...

I love this! So funny but so true. I just have to laugh at some of those emails that I get.

Only a human being can take something that's meant to be beautiful and destroy it.  They/we are destroying our world, our bodies, and our love, till eventually everything turns around to destroy the destroyer.  Make sense??  Thanks, Icebox, for your words.

Reminded me of the scene in "Amelie" where she liked to imagine how many were having sex at the moment...James

I only think it's over rated when I am not getting any...

As for the porn email...I keep getting one telling me I can enlarge a certain organ that I do not have!

Another good one Icy!

Good one Icebox. Seeing folks mention their
E-Mail before I delete and do not open I glance at some of the silly stuff they send.
Now I'm a girl and some of the stuff they advertise does not go with my anatomy that's for sure.
See Ya Bon-Bon

I'm not sure it should be sacred, but I do think it should be loving, and more than

as easy as falling off
well...
whatever....
Any somewhere,
any sometime,
any some way,

Enjoyed this!

Midnitesun ~ *smile* Yes, there is always some truth in humor.  Thank you for reading my poem.

Earth Angel ~ *laugh* Well, yes there are all sort of weird crawly things in there.

Enchantress ~ I am glad you liked it.  There is often a thought in my head (no, really?) That running consciousness as a writing style is a bit like my understanding of women's make-up.  Done properly, it should appear as if there is none, yet it takes much more work to do it that way. Of course, since I don't wear make-up, perhaps I have my head somewhere it doesn't belong.  Anyway, my conscious stream is not in any way coherent even on good days, so the trick is to fix it to be something understandable yet not lose the stream.

Saunni ~ Thank you, it is always good to get pro-creative comments. *grin*

Anwaarhassan ~ Pleased to bring you a laugh.  Thanks for telling me.

ThisDiamond ~ I'm not sure how clean the air is, but you should have seen this before I cleaned it up! *laugh*

Bec ~ Me too, but then I mostly see humor in human sex.

Aenimal ~ Glad you enjoyed it.

Kahlil ~ *smile* I'm glad you like the title.  So...how you doin'? *laugh*

Honeybunch ~ Yes my friend, you always make sense to me.  Your insights into life have done more for me than I have found words to tell you.  Thank you for reading my poem.

JamesMichael ~ *smile* I remember as a child having that thought and being amazed by it.  In an odd way it helped me to grasp the mathematical (not philosophical) concept of infinity.

serenity blaze ~ Really?  But was it REALLY good for you?  I mean, I'm sure I could do better if you just give me time. *laugh*

passing shadows ~ That is a sad statement of a very common truth.  Frankly, I have never understood how you guys survive all the crap that is dumped on women regarding sex.

Susan Caldwell ~ Wait!  There are people who are still getting some?  Where is the line for that?  Hmmm...maybe I should have read some of those emails? *grin*

Bonnie J ~ Well, yes, anatomy...I've been offered ways to enlarge many things, some of which would look silly on a man. *laugh*

Martie ~ Should is hard word (woulda, coulda, shoulda, if only Ida hada, then I mighta beena...).  Yet sex can lead to one of the doorways to god, to an experiential understanding of a universal truth.   That it seldom does is a sadness.  Mechanically it is simple.  Thank you for your comments, as always they are appreciated.
