Dig into the earth and find
pieces of us left behind
toss the bones
of shoveling--
as spade is true
to groveling
as the glue unto the blade--
know ye, this,
the doors are made
not by wishes of intent
but by every thought misspent.

Just as Michelangelo
saw the form
within the stone--
Degas found that glitter foamed
in the distance of the paint.

Matrix--in the dots--
we see--
the picture of complexity
tainted by the hand that seeks--
no such thing--
simplicity.

The artistry is in the heart.
Basics of a form to start.
All the rest is but fulfilled
by the muddy river's spill.

Earth and Water,
Fire--Air--
corners called
and cry despair
to know the center
of the mind--
the truth
is trembling...in quill.

This is how the doors are formed--
from the purity of "void".
Thus we empty selves in trust
to do the things we know we must.

Even as the stones are tossed,
even as we carry cross
as the nails pound through the wrist--
know that we are bound by kiss.

Awesome. According to H. Newstrom a wiccan priest who writes for the Golden Dawn. The letter is the Hebrew word for door, gate or lid. Also related to drawing out, delivering or lifting up. It is the 'illuminating Intelligence" of the the fourteenth path in the Sepher yetzirah and hermetically ascribed to the Tarot card of the Empress. Just thought I'd help shed some light not steal yer thunder K

K:  I dont know much about the history
(thanks Raph for the lesson truly - do you have a link?)
but I relate this to myself through Blake:

"When the doors of perception are cleansed,
everything appears as it is . . . infinite"

Through a kiss?  Hmmm . . . have my own thoughts on that line indeed

Ok I need elaboration because this intrigues me so

Awesome my friend. Chris

Raph gets an "A". (and a hug-- )

And yep, Sue, that particular quote from Blake played into it as well.

And wow, you two, we haven't talked for awhile, huh? I miss our all night gab-fest marathons!

Thanks for reading, good poets. Hope to be back after I cook supper. sigh.

Hugs to all.

Karen...how did I miss this one?
This is an amazing write...and very intriguing.
Makes me want to know more.

I love the whole thing, but these lines...

"Dig into the earth and find
pieces of us left behind
toss the bones
of shoveling--
as spade is true
to groveling
as the glue unto the blade--
know ye, this,
the doors are made
not by wishes of intent
but by every thought misspent."

And especially this...

"Even as the stones are tossed,
even as we carry cross
as the nails pound through the wrist--
know that we are bound by kiss."

Just awesome...you're so cool.
Love ya, lady.

for one instant and then cease to
exist than to exist forever
and never be a part of beauty"

Blaze..:-)
Excellent work...You have used the modern form of short lines, and not take away the old images that move the soul. A wonderful read...I agree with Nightshade, that stanza should be pointed out as awesome, as should  the fine ending...ice

"Earth and Water,

of the mind--"

Very poignant.  Deep in the mountains of Western Iran, the sacred flame of Zoroaster is still fed.

Deep in the hearts of souls who have passed through the fire, the elements know gratitude.
