Last Post Put the laughter on a string and tie it tight, Make metaphors of day that turns to night; Say goodbye, pretend that it’s all right, Or that we’ll meet somewhere, another site Perhaps, although we know the chance is slight; It means goodbye, whatever we may write. We know the song is gone, and this goodbye Will be a loss no words can satisfy, And though we say we’ll see you by and by We know the truth, though not the reason why. Though words deny, the hope that they imply will never be an adequate reply. So say goodbye: We’ve known it from the start, Today we're losing A Romantic Heart. Ed, this is such a sweet thing for you to do. I hate it when we loose somebody. I can tell from your replies and poems that you do too. I'm like Karilea, though...I'm really hoping that our A Romantic Heart decides to just take a little vacation and then come back....if she has to leave at all. I hope that she reads this poem and the replies, and also the replies on her own poem. I'm tempted to send her a link to them to make sure that she sees that we don't want her to leave. This ole hopeless romantic loves those poems of romance, and she is a very good writer of them. Like I replied on her own poem, she has to have a loving and caring heart to write so beautifully of love and romance. Thanks for this, Ed. You are so sweet and tender-hearted, my friend. Dear Millette, I am so glad that you are staying with us here...it's important to have friends and write poetry and love, as well as keep your life on track...so just balance it all out...I understood that you needed a break, so do I every now and then...and it's okay to take those long overdue rests in life...just don't be too long |
