I have found this place
With sweet water and dates
To be an oasis for thought.

Rumi wrote of love
And of Allah with one breath
That whispered as a night wind
Through the fronds of palm
Letting me know there were
Times of great plenty in heart
And sadness of soul
To rival the sands

His words now endure in me
And I have let them storm
As I reflected on the way of us.

You remain as the sphinx

Silent in your guard

I remain the dune
That holds the tracks of our passing

Silent in the shift of wind
But for the rustled click of each grain blown

I will the stars again tonight
And cast to them those feeble phrases
Written for your ears but assigned
To fall in the void of heavens bowl
As I
Eastward facing
Toss them as ash of that
Which never burned

Would that the night were spent
Wrapped in the sounds of your sighs
As we found the robes too tightly held the flesh
For pleasure

I could believe
In Allah too

Set oh terrible sun,
that I might rest a bit
before the journey again
demands my leaving

For I hear not the rustle of silk
from her gown to comfort me
and Rumi still rages
inside.

Well, hello.  I missed your work, my friend.  But goodness, your absence didn't change my awe of you. Told the children I was reading Cpat...they turned down the television without question.  I've got them trained. Don't I?

Superb work...I could have quoted the whole poem, Ron.  The lines above spoke loudest to me.

Glad to see you again.

Thanks all... this one just wrote itself from nowhere... and is not as tightly woven as it might be or even as focused as it should perhaps... so I find it kind of you all to comment..and to welcome me back.

thank you sincerely...

I'm sure glad that attic had paper... *G*

It's good to have you back, Cap'n... even better to have you bring such excellence back with you. *S*
