In silent start of a new day,
I seek the morning sparrows song
as they busy themselves with life.
I sit here quietly in stillness,
observing their endless motions.

Winged creatures don’t gather dust.

My thoughts turn to the dishes
left sitting in the sink
from the night before.
The dishes can wait.
Bigger things are on the horizon.

Today will bring new challenges.
It’s time to pack and move, again.
Where did I leave that blessed bubble wrap?
Do I have enough boxes and tape?
Mundane miscellaneous movements
tax both brain and muscle.

Give up, take a break.
My muse beckons me to turn on the PC
and escape into the blue screen,
as the hot Java calls out to me in
aromatherapy.

The boxes can wait.

LOL, when my daughter was little, she took the Pampers out of the box, threw them on the floor, climbed inside the box and sat there, pretending it was a boat or a car.

Kacy, I hate moving, too. And, I've got to literally move my furniture and everything I want out of my house over to here. I'm just putting it off, it seems. But, according to my deceased husbands family, I don't have much longer to move. Oh well, it'll be there whenever I get to it.

Don't know why I said all that....

Sue, are you collecting dust? LOL

Ed, me too. I need a back massage and I barely started packing!

Ethel, dontcha wish it could all just 'poof' itself to your new location?

Reb, LOL. Those things get packed first...high priorities, basic essentials, yanno.

My current wife ia a chaos packer.  Everything into a box untile the box is full.  It doesn't matter if the stuff in the box is completely unrelated to anything logical.  The important thing for her is to be sure the boxx is full.  It doesn't matter to her if the box is too heavy to lift either.  It just has to be full of something.

I only watched her be organized one time.  She seperated all her shoes into two boxes, one for shoes she was keeping and one for shoes which were to go to the "Good Will" pickup dumpster.  She has a bit of Imelda Marcos in her, so there were enough of both types of shoes to fill both boxes.

When we got to the new homestead, (you guessed it)  the unmarked box of old give away shoes was safe with us and the box of new shoes was long gone.

I do hate to move, but it can be good to set up a new home.  Good luck!

Midnite

The other side of moving is staying in the same place...something that can also cause boxes full of stuff, and the wanting to save it for another day.  I've lived in the house I'm in now since 1970...ouch!  Enjoyed your poem and good luck on the move.  Where ya going?

James, yep, it's time to change.

icebox, LOL at that shoe tale. I'm glad I only have three pair of shoes to worry about.

Martie, about 10 miles, just across town...but it still means packing!

Kacy thank you for sharing your break-from-packing-considerations! It was fun to read, also the replies. I can so relate ... only by imagining to move! I agree with Martie, it's certainly the case here.
But it will be great once you settle down.... I mean YOU not the dust!
Have a smooth move! And pause with us!
Love, Margherita

When I was a little girl I had a big tall box filled with stuffed toys and I loved playing in it.
Still don't like packing to move.
Good one.

Margherita, loved that reply.

BonBon, hello friend, and thanks for reading

Lee, thanks! Glad you enjoyed the move.

Karilea, I'm only moving across town...this year anyway. but I probably won't stay long enough to root.

Sue, LOL, I'd buy you one, but you don't stay in one place long enough to need it!

Jason, aaww! you are so sweet. OK, what size duffel bag do you need? LOL

Yes... a break is definitely in order. *S* You have my sympathy. *G* I have to get rid of some of my books before I move again... all my friends and family have sworn off of them... so I had to carry every over-heavy box of them last move... ouch! *G*

Enjoyed this... keep the computer operational as long as possible! *S*

Took me over a month to pack and move the last time.  Most likely the result of a packing to pip time ratio of about 1/10, so I can relate a bit!
Moving, everytime I do it, I swear it's for the last time.  Let us know before ya unplug!

Yep I bet these pages of blue are a huge distraction in such a time. whenever i have anything major to do, i always decide i need a break. the blue always ranks higher in priorities doesn't it, especially when ya got more 'important' stuff to do.

enjoyed this Kacy, made me smile. glad i aint the only one. love ya gal.
