The play-ground I visit is not far away,
I go there quite often, when time will allow,
if but for an instant, where memories play
out scenes from the past, today's different somehow.

The mood of the swings has grown somber my friend,
you tell me that this should not be rightly so.
We all play out parts from beginning to end,
the sequel begins quite abruptly I know.

This slide show I'm seeing is your legacy.
The sound-tracks' canned laughter has caused me to smile.
A train whistle echoes of pure lunacy,
the likes of which I have not heard for a while,

nor likely will hear 'til return to this place,
where frequent my friends, and will ever reside
their laughter, bequethed, to this child whose face
reflects on the life of a friend who has died.

In life you are missed, my child-like friend
though part of you stays 'til we meet the same end.

In memory of:
George "Captain Overboard" Wainwright
1952/2003

Bon voyage.
