Condemnation

Matt Keach

I say it will be
But it isn't now
It won't be then
It should be
Yes, definitely
It won't be
Most assuredly

It was never to be

The greatest happiness
That I know exists
Derives from reconciling
the shoulds with the won’ts

Maybe it should be

Justice is that flashlight
That you stumble for in the dark
Late at night, cowering from the storm
But the electricity will always
come back on, a minute before you find it

Great humility comes from knowing
you won't do what you should

Constructed for the past, destruction ever lasts
designed for the ages, conflicts' flame rages
A million swimmers struggle, one finds a whirlpool
Exiled, he finds a noose, a tear, a stool

You loathe the serums’ bitter taste
But the toughest thing of all to chew:
The first monster that must be fought is you

sometimes we are our own worst enemy...very powerful

Lauren~

Through the darkness
I can see your light
And you will always shine
And I can feel your heart in mine

I will remember you

The unusual time changes make this an interesting poem, you get the feeling of conflicting thoughts through the constant alterations of the rhyming structure coupled with the total removal of it at certain pointa.  I like it

Life is like that sometimes, isn't it?

Matt, I enjoyed reading your poem. Has lots of
different emotions in it.
