A Mother’s Perception

My darling son I always cry when I see you in pain.
Even when you say, “I’m alright mama, I’m alright.
As a small child you cried when I had a broken nail.
The pain and tears were in your beautiful innocent eyes,
your childlike love was touching me.
This is why I cried my son; this is why I cried.
As a young boy you had cuts and bruises, bones broken,
nothing I could do, only keep on loving you.
Your pain was my pain my darling son.
This is why I cried my son; this is why I cried.
As a young man you had a motorcycle accident.
All I could see was a motorcycle crushed beneath a car.
You lying in the street saying to me,
I’m alright mother, I’m alright.
This is why I cried my son; this is why I cried.
A man in tender years, love lost never to return.
You cried my son, you cried.
As I held you tight-
I cried my son, I cried for you my son, I cried.
“You’ll be alright my son, you’ll be alright.”

Oh, this hurt, Bonnie...though I don't have a son, my brother went through a very painful divorce after thirty something years of marriage. He said he felt like he lost everything he had worked all those years for.

It hurts to see someone you love hurt.

Hugs to you both

Bonnie ~~ As a mother myself, I think we have all cried a million tears.

A mother is a mother no matter what age her child. And no one can love so deeply.

This was wonderful and I have added it to my library.

Huggles, Marti

you just brough tears to my eyes. That almost never happens, that poem was just so sad...

I said I'm going to buy a gun and start a war,
If you can tell me something worth fighting for
