It's the third of July
And the foot traffic is out of control
All traffic is out of control
Kids letting off fireworks
Cops pulling over
Drunk drivers
I'm kind of mad at the rabble
I walk these streets every night
Now I have to find a well lit side street
To write my poems on

It's almost the 4th
I can hear fireworks in the distance
Someone must offer their assistance

People ride by me
But none of them can recognize my face
I make my mark then I erase

Sitting in the park
The only light foggy street lamp so dim
But I can see her and see him

Sitting in the dark
On a bridge over the muddy river
Eighty degrees and still I shiver

I can write you poetry that'll make a strong man lose his mind:
I ain't no pig
Without a wig
I hope you treat me kind
-Bob Dylan

At times we are all observers rather than participants. Nice write.
