My first decade
laid the foundation
of beliefs

The second
spent refining
and building upon them

The third
finds me buried
in their collapse

Slowly digging my way out

But there is light at the surface, this one I know.

Cool!  Now you are just about ready to get started.

*smile*

You should keep this poem and add to it each decade.  In spite of your best efforts to the contrary, I hope you have many more decades.

You can always count on Aenimal to take the word "blunt" and give it beautiful new meaning. I love how you've done this. Very nice job.

It's almost ironic how I was listening to Pink Floyd's "Breathe" when I read this...I read the last line just while Floyd was saying "dig another hole"...Kind of struck me as a bit odd.

Anyways, I agree! You should add for each decade. That'd be interesting to see. Make sure you keep it...But if you don't...I am! So :Þ lol

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

Upon sight I trusted
even through the hood of make believe
back in the hours of innocence.

Years of fake
today my heels are hard skin
I use to turn against lies believed.

Fractured future of past
living in sleep walk mode
curtains closed, stay in bed.

Raph, you may find this hard to believe, but there is a part of me that knows (or maybe  has known  these feelings more than you would believe....or that even I myself like to admit.

I do have another lifeline, though.......and he is absolutely wonderful...keeping me more sane because he is so much like that other part of me and lets me know that I'm not the only one that feels this way.....and also much like the little part of me that is sane and calm and peaceful.

Here's to sanity, my friend

and in the fourth you build your own house -- but some people will accuse you of having a midlife crisis (don't listen to them -- that's just secret code for 'would you please just do what we tell you like you used to?')

good analogy -- well done
