Flowers,
pretty flowers
in the winter turning brown,
uncommitted to a future past your dying;

petals,
turning back to earth
from whence your strength had come,
dew drops on you
no more form to mimic crying.

this one left me with a sad feeling of loss,
in spite of renewal thoughts

icebox....Yes, a sadness and acceptance of what is.  Poetically clear and poignant.

I loved the metaphors but I am NOT invition winter back... not yet, not yet... I am soooo tired of the cold and the snow.  I don't care how much I have to sweat, I'll stick with summer till it reluctantly steps aside for fall's blaze of colours.

serenity blaze ~ I like autumn but in winter I come alive.  I am really only human after dark and in the dark days of winter.

Midnitesun ~ Me too; I had trouble with it.  In a way, I did not want to write it - it wanted to be written.  What I posted is much less maudlin than what it wanted to be.

passing shadows ~ *smile* I had an uncle who told me that women should always be kept warm.

Martie ~ The wheel turns whether or not we are still hanging on to it.

Susan Caldwell ~ *smile* ...yes, this is more true than most people understand.

Magic mystery ~ I understand. I too get to a point where I have had enough of scraping windshield with a credit card! *laugh*

A nice take on evolution and the human soul that holds up in the face of adversity.
