The poet and the pragmatist
Were told they’d be a team
A pod was set aside for them
‘Twas a mismatch it would seem

The pragmatist wrote was logical
The poet wrote nonsensical rhyme
Like Old Faithful and the dreamer
They both worked in their own time

The poet hummed songs out of tune
The pragmatist swore out of the blue
The poet smiled and learned new words
She thought to use them in a verse or two

The pragmatist kept a tidy desk
A whirlwind kept the poet arranged
One thought the other was Mrs. Clean
While she thought the other, deranged!

This odd coupling couldn’t possibly work
Fireworks were expected each day
But the pragmatist and the poet
Worked together like water and clay

They molded their jobs to suit them
And accepted each other’s quirks
So the lesson of this story is
Don’t mess with something that works.

**We have 'Team Pride' at work and for an assignment we have to come up with a name for our two-man cubicle. This is what I wrote for my teammate and me. Can you guess which one I am? LOL

Well...I'd have to bet on you being the "hummer"--

But at least you KNOW which one you are. I have arguments with myself all day trying to decide!

Good to see your name here in the scroll, dear friend!

You would be the poet, of course!
(then again this could be one of those trick questions)

I love your spirit Ms. poet deVine~

Big smiles sent your way, what clever thoughts...team work is essential and builds character, wisdom and spreads a lot of openness directly through the success of thought....

This is awesome.  Of course, you are the poet.

Come and look at my desk...same thing over here.  Yep, you can work together...feed off each other's strengths.

This is so good and I know...I was married to the other brand.  Please notice the word "was."  LOL

Thank you all for you kind comments. I am going to give this to my coworker today.

She really does swear a lot. She hangs up the phone and says 'you stupid twit!'...and other more colorful stuff. I don't swear so it's disconcerting. I tell her I learn a new swear word every day from her! She laughs. We do get along even though we are so different.

Well..she loved it. I was worried about the swearing part but she laughed when she read that!
