As bubbles boil the cauldron’s fire
upon the blackened spit.
A witch’s brew from evil’s lair
consuming souls forthwith.

For in this boil of hissing brew
a heart once beats, now still.
A toughness of the sloven chew
against a lover’s will.

The chanted words and eyes of frog
within the lacing cast.
Of haunted deeds, of gruesome grog
and bubbles till the last.

A spell upon the mirror nigh,
a wish to own the mind.
A horrid scream and ghastly cry
from out the darkness blind.

From shriveled hands and sharpened nail,
from warts of nose and ear.
A daemon’s mind in psychic flail
in wait of something drear.

And when the dance befalls the moon
of full and brightest light.
A cackling sound, a devil’s croon
shall ply the darkened plight.

Till morn is broke upon the moor
of bog and quaking swamp,
a witch shall cast a lover’s lure
and wait the devil’s romp.

Although this particular brew is not of my tradition, it made me smile nevertheless.

Much fun, Mag.

Excellently woven...the rhythm has a constant bite to it giving it the evil aura of its subject.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
