In dusty fuchsia the hill held the palm trees
as the ocean ate the sun
yes   I could hear it
a distinct slurp as it slipped like a melon
cut into a perfect wedge into a lover’s mouth

It kept on shining  this swallowed sun
on a sliver of a moon
with perfect timing
it was lit    like some slow UFO
in the western sky watching me sip chardonnay

It wasn’t until the magic diffused
and turned the moon into a moon that I recognized
the excitement in the waitress’s voice was my own
(she said that for two days now at dusk
this light appeared…her eyes were the color
of some secret)
a slivered light and more
a door

not just another Tuesday evening sunset

....and is any sunset ordinary when seen through Martie's eyes? I think not.

Welcome back -- I hope your sojourn at the shore was a good one, and it certainly looks as if it was!

Martie, dear lady...  thanx for another of
your impeccable portraits.  My sun has set
for the day,  though your own is not quite
there yet,  but soon it will...

LOL...I should've just quoted the whole poem, huh?  I wait for you to nail a scene Martie and damn, I loved this!!  Didn't think it was possible to describe a sunset in such a fresh way.  Certainly not, just another...

For sure not just another sunset, this one!
Just came home from the water's edge watching ours...
Beautiful...but, now I want to come and see yours!
Your sunset sounds very special indeed.

Martie, I love to watch the sunset, and especially at the beach. It's the most beautiful thing. And, sweet Lady, you have described it perfectly.

So that's it, chardonnay...   either you have to have one heck of a creative mind or it must be in the chardonnay...   wait a sec, I've drank chardonnay, nope, must be the creative mind...  enjoyed much

Now that was definitely a "carpe' diem" kind of moment Martie, and you captured it well.  However, did I ever tell you about husband #3?  These lines reminded me of why I speak of him in the past tense LOL...

Slurping is not a good habit Martie, not good at all.  LOL, but in your sunset it works wonders.
