periwinkle
thigh-high boots
hot pink spandex
stirrup pants
with the help
of silver spoon
I really thought
that I could dance...
glitter globes
replace the stars
running nose
and one more bar
but then they called 'em
"discoteques"
profundities
in the mundane
just enough
to make Hell sane
I see it happen
all the same
but now they call it
"rave"...

and no there ain't
nothin' that's new
we just re-name the rituals
rites of passage
"happenings"
I giggle thinking
Hip Hop rhymes...

Tis true, tis true

The rituals are always recognizable within the "current" fashion.

Sane ?
When was that?
Dang, I missed it.
Everything is the same and yet nothing is the same.  That's why we are so confused?

He he, but you know what really hurts?  It hurts when you can re-name it TWICE!

Yep, it is all the same with each
generation....just a little different
outfits to wear for the rituals.

Two thoughts...sure hope there's no photographic evidence of THAT outfit and there was never enough to make me believe I could dance.
Ever thought, maybe it's the same folks getting reincarnated over and over again.  And they just keep coming back...trying to get it right this time?  But as Ed quoted (perfectly)..."same as it ever was".

I'm still waiting for the "periwinkle thigh high boots and hot pink spandex stirrup pants" to come back in style! LOL

Entertaining read!

I love this one!  What kills me is when my daughter asks how I know all the words to one of the songs she listens to on her radio station.  I just smile.  (remake of some old disco classic.)  She thinks I am the coolest mom around here...LOL

My outfit: Silver, shiny pants, maroon boots, and some small shirt.
The music: Rod Stewart, "Do you think I'm sexy."
The humiliation now: priceless

Thanks for laughing with me folks...

I'm still remembering the padded shoulder craze too. I had bigger breasts on my shoulders than on my chest then.

OH. Heh, heh. You all may be cursed with another poem on that'n.
