Reduced
to pure desire
raw need
base addiction

however silver the spoon
over flame failing reason

there is my love
for you.

Exposed
stripped bare
nothing between
the sin but skin

as the distance betrays
and the miles condemn

there is my love
for you.

Denied
tempted and taunted
memory haunts
staining my existence

still, at heart's
insistence

there is my love
for you.

Bereft
wanton and weary
upon twilight waves
leaving me then

silent against the sand
in spite of all

there is my love
for you.

I knew you two would pull something out that would knock me over....this is hard-hitting...and so truthful in so many ways.  People will do what they will do - and we will love them through it all, it seems.

Washed over me like warm surf...

and gotta grin at the opening metaphor.

Reminds me of somebody I know.
(or is that somebody I SHOULD know, but still don't?)

make some room on that porch, you two.

I'm coming over.

Very, very good, you two....but I knew it would be before I opened the poem up.....since it's from two of my favorites here.
Ya'll need to do more of these, ya know......
Hey, can I come join ya'll with Serenity on that porch, too???
Hugs to you both

Jan, it looks as though you house-trained that puppy beautifully... this is a great collaboration! *S*

That must be some porch... hope it's at least screened? *G*

Wow...this is incredible.  I am absolutely without words while my mind revisits a not so long ago time.

Duncan and Janet Marie...

such a perfect touch...interjecting "there is my love for you".  I think you hit the edge of heartache with this.  If I bring my own chair, can I sit on the porch with you two, too?

and theres plenty of room on this porch so everyone is welcome... I can say that cuz Dunc is the one who will be doing the cooking.

Hope you all have a safe and wonderful Fourth of July weekend.
