O pity me
the voice derides
mocking echo
pity you
I cannot drink them
back to life
but came close
to drinking death
throw the glass
against the wall
and wait for smoke to clear.

Nope.

They're still not here...

"Time to grow up, Karenanne..."
I heard him in my sleep.
Like that sleepy little girl
looking for her shoes and socks,

I yearned to crawl back into bed.

Nope.

They are still dead.

I make the coffee anyway,
because it's what I always do.
Sleepy inhale of the brew--
startled that I just poured two...

I can remember
the morning
Dad came for coffee.

He must have
for I brewed it
just like he liked it
and I poured two
as you

when I turned
and he wasn't there
I sat at the table
and moved out his chair

and our thoughts
still met
in the coffee'd air.

HUGS.....

Well...this brought to mind a few years of various hazy scenerios.  As always K, you reach me in places no one else can.
Listen to your Dad, put on your shoes kiddo...maybe it's really that simple sometimes.

Treat your phantoms well, they will be with you . . .
and you do, me thinks.
I like this, K.

And Sunshine's response too.

Extremely touching...

I hear the voices as well...sometimes I smell their scent...

It's all a balance beam routine...

Nothing "same old same old" about this.An open write, expressing well a loss I wish you did not have to feel.

serenity...I have served up the favorites of the dead myself and placed them before an empty chair, knowing the reason is love, helps.
