Fighting Chance
By: Noah Eaton
6/29/03

She sits in at the minstrel show
In this flourescent church
Hanging by ten leap years
Without seeing February lurch
Tastes the hours like minute steak
Knowing she must disperse
She's the shadows lunatic fringe
But is uncertain what is hers...

You know you have a fighting chance
You know you have a fighting chance
You know you have a fighting chance
You just fear taking it by the chin...

Blood never recoils, it only remembers
So she contemplates,
"Why can't I make allies,
out of all these palisades?"
She forgets where she left the footnote
God knows how that was discovered
Her mind is reeling at relative speed
But her feet just can't take cover...

You know you have a fighting chance
You know you have a fighting chance
You know you have a fighting chance
You just fear taking it by the chin...

Twenty seconds elapse each breath
And she eats the indication like melba toast
There's no stopping you
Only if you pertain to the mountains the most
Here the air is dyspnea
How can you say silence is philoprogenitive?
No one will come crying to you
When they can't see your evidence...

You know you have a fighting chance
You know you have a fighting chance
You know you have a fighting chance
You know you have a fighting chance
You know you have a fighting chance
You know you have a fighting chance...
...you just fear letting your guard down...

Underneath your clothes, there's an endless story

Noah ~

Is this another one of your songs? It really pulls at my harp strings...

How are your recording sessions coming along?
I am so excited for you!

Loves 'n hugs,

deeper you go, so slowly...
I loved those lines Noah~

So you're writing music these days?
Who better than you....

Noah - enlighten me.  How does
quote:
philoprogenitive

a. having many children; fond of children
work into this poem?  I was doing fine, until this, and then I took a left or something, and got lost.  Help!

The way I see it, in the grace of God He feels philogenitive to all of us. We are his children, and we should all truly love like brothers and sisters to one another! Not in silence though. I guess sometimes people feel in silence nothing is disturbing them, but that is just a fools paradise to me, it just doesn't feel like home, like with family. Then when you realize you lost the chance, it can be such a defeat.

Thanks for the comment Karilea!

Noah Eaton

You know, When I read your work I have a feeling that I almost understand it...I certainly understand the feel of it even when I have to use a dictionary for the words.

I feel like I almost understand this, and I certainly like the rhythm and the images. So it's good.

When we have a philogenitive God, how can we have anything BUT a fighting chance? And even more than a fighting chance!

Good write, Noah. I'm going to add this to my library to read again...
