A cottage,
nestled between the outstretched hands
of giant oaks.  A single chimney telling of a
glowing fire within as an occasional spark wisps
into the chill of night on a tendril of white
smoke and the faint clink of a spoon joins the
clock’s tick... to the time of a beating heart.

Mesmerizing,
this scene, basking beneath
the glow of a celestial blanket as a faint hoot
of a lonely owl carries far into the valley
below.

Coveted,
this solitary and serene scene
where phones don’t ring, angels sing
and fires warm the hearth and heart.

For therein resides a man and a friend
of many years.   One existing peacefully
with the whispered chatter of the other.
A poet....and a dapper muse.

Flickering,
the fireside of orange embers
upon brown timbers and curtains
of only a man’s touch...no frills.

Dancing,
the light against trees gently
swaying within a night’s breeze before
the howl serenades the moon.  A slowly
sailing cloud ship rounds the moon
as the creak of imagined sails sing.

Sipping effortlessly,
though annoying to any feminine guest,
the wafting smell of fresh ground beans permeating
the room....his study....where lore dances
the pages and knights battle for sages
and maidens fair....

A place,
where words dwell upon
delicate white sheets...where a quill
rests lightly beside the darkened ink
of a bottomless well of write.
A poet’s home...where a muse
dances a jig to the cricket’s chirp
and the frog’s croak....and a
poet sighs the waning moon.

and you took us there...
could see it... hear it.. smell it...
wonderful poetic employ of imagery and mood.
Congrats on your milestone...a lovely offering to mark it with.
Well done poet sir.

All I can feel is this distance between you and me.
I can say I love you but I can't make you believe me
because touching is believing.

Magnus,
The ladies are swooning. A sure sign of success. And for what it's worth, you conjured up some wonderful old memories for me. Nicely done and congrats on 9,000. Here's to many, many more.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Barry,
Your images are incredible...Gee, it's 9 pm and I feel the need to brew a pot of coffee...but I did that last night and didn't end up sleeping until 2am...and then up at 6:00 am.  I should be sleeping now, but I had to congratulate you on the big 9000th post.  OK, I'll shut up now after I say again:

Congrats!

Patricia,  yeah,  I had the urge to brew and
I skipped it....probably 'cause I would be
the zombie up at Oh dark thirty in the A of
M or the proximity....  Muttering silly
little nothings tomorrow as I stagger around
in a stupor, or was that stupiding around
in a stagger?

Anywhoooo....get your rest...Not far behind
ya...Thanx P.

Me, too, Karilea...but I have an excuse, with my goofiness..LOL

Barry, you know how I love all your poetry.
I've got a lot of it in my Favorites...
where this one is going, too.

I could seem to smell the coffe in this one,
and, it was like I was looking through a
window watching you as you were thinking and writing.
Do you ever smoke a pipe?

Congratulations on your 9,000 King Magnus. I've enjoyed every one of your poems and replies that I've read.

Hugs
Ethel
