Only You
By Larry Chadwick

I watched you
and liked the things I saw
although done
from afar

You displayed
an incredible wisdom
drawn from
both pain and joy

I watched you
some more
and deduced
that you were healing

And as time passed
it was an inevitable
conclusion
that I had to draw

Only you
could put Humpty Dumpty together again

June 11, 2003

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Larry, Larry,
Quite contrary,
eh something.

So my friend, you are still good as ever: will you ever retire? I sure hope not.

The most powerful gift we have is knowing when not to cross borders, and this says it well about staying distance from pain that needs to heal itself.  I liked it lots!

Larry you made me smile and that's a rare gift.
Thank you.

When you are Humpty Dumpty
scarce sitting on a wall
you know in you, it's only friends
that keep you from the fall

When you are Humpty Dumpty
your world is all pain wracked
it's only from the gifts of love
your heart becomes less cracked

When you are Humpty Dumpty
as I have often been
its then we need our friends round to
be heard, be felt, and seen

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Dang! I hate not having internet access at home. Sorry but I am unable to respond to each of you. Your kind thoughts are VERY much appreciated. Thank you.

Karilea,
Thank you. Really? I didn't think anybody could put Humpty together again.

Maree,
Aww thanks.

Ethel,
Sweet girl you are too kind. Thank you.

Wow Larry, great poem. When I read this I flashed back in time to see memories of meeting you for the first time at the flag pole holding a candle and "butterfly kisses" fluttering through the air, I watched you and quickly saw where your daughter got her loving personality, and then again to the funeral as I read "My teacher, My guide" your gentle tears, your love, and sweetness. You have a gratious heart and I believe this poem goes and leave an imprint of your personality on you and you speak manificinally about putting together the pieces. Again great job.
With Loads of love and laughter,
Kellie-Marie

Kellie,
Wow. Thank you. Well, you say many nice things. They were indeed trying times. And as I look at the remainder of my life, I fear, there will be more. But it ends eventually for all of us. You have been a good friend. Wish I could have been there for the memorial.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
