Monday Morning Thoughts

I was thinking about the need for tears
and how they can fill the eyes without blinking.
The soft gentleness of sarcasm when trying to make
speechless sounds, nonsensical when wondering
how to survive the buzzing of doctors and
the uninformation they hand you as if you are not
smart enough to realize the consequences of their visit.

I was thinking about the need for friends
and how far away some are and if only
you could touch them or they you, so you can feel
that life is out there instead of the smell of death
that surrounds this room.

I was thinking why we are making small talk,
skirting the issues, watching somber faces
playing out the possibilities, forced smiles,
pretending, while inside your head
you are making last minute thoughts...

This morning I am thinking about family,
as three leave for home and hoping
that tomorrow's news brings us together
for a celebration of life...instead of death.

WynterGal~
And I'm thinking that Monday morning is a good time for an earnest prayer to be sent your way~

my heart cries to know what motivated such heavy thoughts, and yes, it does seem that a fervent prayer is needed, so it shall be done for you

Maureen, I'm sorry you're in this situation. You've depicted it well, here, as I've had too much experience of the small talk and forced smiles. Sometimes it seems like our family only gathers in hospitals and at funerals.
