Half Asleep

A pale glow lurks
outside my bedroom windows,
waiting to come in
Is it the dawn that’s creeping through?
Or is the moon still trekking
its circular path
above my roof?

Shall I wrap up my lingering
visions of the night
with a sweetly chosen  ending?
Or roll back into the dream
and allow the night to possess my body
for a few more hours?

Whether my eyes are half open
or half closed
would depend on the hour

For I have been dwelling in
the far reaches of the mind
where there is no time
and am resurfacing in the
rectangular glow of either
sun or moon

A sudden incessant warble
from a crab apple limb
puts things in perspective

It would matter not which star
has caught my waking eye

It is in these undefined moments
that my pen is most prolific,
and so half slumbering thoughts
are leaking from my pen

A new day has begun

A new day has begun

Oh, yes...it has indeed.
It's good to see you here, too, sweet Lady. As always, I love your poetry.
Hugs

And we are grateful. *S* I like this very much, Elizabeth. *S*
