Webshots Photo

~~~~
I saw a little Mockingbird
getting something to eat
He lit right on the feeder to eat
of the nectar sweet
He took a litle sip, then another
maybe one or two
Then he paused for a moment in midair
then backwards he flew
He did this back and forth
for just a few minutes   it seemed
Then off he flew away
with litle tiny wings that gleamed
Soon there will be all different kinds
for the birds fly South, we're told
But we're already here in the South, you see,
where it never gets very cold
Soon Autumn will be over
with Winters approaching soon
We'll soon hear the birds from the North
here singing a happy tune
Something else always happens
that I've often wondered about
Where do these little Mockingbirds go
for they surely leave this "South"
~~~~

This is the poem (slightly revised..font & picture) I posted in Autumn about a "Mockingbird"...which was really a "Hummingbird"  LOL

LOL...you DID have a poem!  And here I thought you were joshing me!  I am so tickled over this.  My father loved his hummingbirds, and was able to bring his feeders just spare feet up to the windows of the house, where we could watch them year around in California.  How I miss them!  Thank you so much!

Thank you, Dixie, I'm glad that you liked it.  :heart;

Karilea....Yep, silly me wrote a poem and showed my ignorance to the whole PIP. I really knew that they were called Hummingbirds, though. I have no idea why I put "Mockingbird" down instead.

When I discovered my mistake, I was glad that all of you couldn't see my face. I know that I had to have been blushing.

Aren't the little Hummingbirds cute, though? I love the way they just stay there in midair and the way they have reverse gears, too. LOL  I'll bet ya'll did have fun watching them when they came up close to the window. When they come up to the porch over there to eat out of the feders, if any of us are sitting on the porch, we  get quiet so they'll stay. Gary's Dad has some picture he took up close of them. They are just precious.

Hello Ethel

I absolutely adore birds and I loved your poem.  Last weekend I saw the French documentary called "Travelling Birds" which was all about bird migration with some amazing photography.

Take care......Sue

Hummingbirds are funny things to watch. Once, one got stuck in my garage, and another flew into me. I loved this, it brings back those memories.

I love this, Ethel. I think hummingbirds are the cutest little birds. The very first time I saw one was in my mother-in-laws barn. Somehow it got in there and it was trapped. My husband had gotten it and took it outside and let it go. Too bed he didn't take it down to our house to let it go. Mybe, it would have stayed around for a while. I don't guess there are any hummingbirds in the city. I have never seen one here. Thank you for reposting this. I must have missed it the first time.
