Webshots Photo

~~~~~~
While walking around outside
one beautiful sunny day
There was a gleeful noise above
something seemed busy at play
As I looked up in the sky
clear in a shining blue
There I saw a huge flock of birds
it was more than just a few
Flying all together
sounding as if in perfect rhyme
They seemed to be actually laughing
having a good ole time
They must have been happy
to feel the warm suns ray
Their plans seemed to me to be
for quite some time to stay
I do not know the names of
these beautiful birds I see
Once I wrote about a  ~mockingbird~
that was a  ~hummingbird~ in reality
LOL...Ethel, please tell us how you mistook a hummingbird for a mockingbird.  It must be a charming story!  A wonderful summery poem...
Not necessary to know the names of the birds...remember the Karen Carpenter song, "Why do birds suddenly appear, every time you are near, just like me they long to be, close to you."   James
I am very fascinated by these flocks of birds ... and you brought the images vividly back.
So lovely, dear Ethel!
Karilea, not long after I came here, I wrote a poem about hummingbirds that come up to Gary's Dad's porch to feed. In the whole poem, I called them Mockingbirds.
Later that day, I mentioned that I had written the  poem to Gary's Mom and Dad about the "Mockingbirds" that came to eat. He said, "What Mockingbirds?" and I knew right away that I had put the wrong name for the birds on my poems.
By the way, none of you sweet people here said anything about it, until I had posted a winter version of this poem. LOL
I'll go find the link to the other "Mockingbird" poem. HeeHee!!
(smiles) Oh Ethel, this is soooooooo cute, sweet friend, I just heard about the story of the birds and it made me giggle too, though I think we all make these little goofs every now and then! (kiss on cheek) This is sooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, yay for birds, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
I love writing about nature. Love your picture and your poem. I have a few written about birds also one or two humorous ones. One is called Ike and Spike. About two birds who fly south for the winter, then return north and there is still snow on the ground and their wishing they had a pair of boots.
Thanks for the write.
