Amuse a Muse

How does one amuse her muse?
How does she make it sing?
Should one set up a crafty ruse,
would then its sweet song ring?

If poetic one would be
or prosaic to the max,
would ink spots land upon the page
or would her words be lax?

If one would sit, in staunch repose,
meditating on life’s whims,
would thoughts worth gold or frankincense
emerge or would they only dim?

Lift up thine eyes and lend thine ear
to the world that surrounds your day
then give keen thought to understand
and your words will come to play.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Amuse your muse and she will speak
you'll float poetic waves of rhyme
you know the drill, you've seen the crime
as in this piece of beauty unique
