No one lives there now, up there where love resides,
or occupies the space set aside for olden ways
but in the twilight time I can see the setting sun
and I, the visitor, rest for a spell in awe.

I breathe the air of truth and the energy of life
and try to hold my breath for my return to earth
but involuntary contractions return me to the now
where dirt and grime proclaim the glory of the world.

Past moments caught and savoured but not intensified
force on me a freedom to search through eyes to soul
for a friend, maybe lover, who’s received enlightenment
but always I’m pulled back to the shadows after love.

Unprotected I’m at risk, I absorb pain, anguish, hurt,
and the energy of some often hides the setting sun
but in the dark my voice, shouting, whispering,
and begging for release from mind’s connectedness
fades away unheard as if of little worth.

Now with these words I demand but, nay, ask nicely
for strength to overthrow the souls that lay me low!!

Honeybunch,
I like what you did with the soft images in this.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Honeybunch

It's not always easy to move from enlightenment to ordinary...I can feel the anguish in this poem, but I can also see the light.

Hi Helen, I began my day with this; I know it will be with me all day.  This is among the best I have ever read.  Your insights into the simplicity of existence humble me.  As a novice who has just reached the edge of awareness, I bow to a Master.

Thank you.

Kethry - Thank you so much for reading.  Soft are the images that hide an unknown power.

Margherita - Thanks for reading.  Someone once said that I should "lighten up" as it were.  Maybe words are "things" and my demands will be met.

Passing shadows - yeah, kinda sad in the in between moments.

Martie - There's always light - it never dims but sometimes by a candle light I can't step around the obstacles.

And my dear Icebox, No, not a master but indeed a simple soul battling through the shadows of what is and what is not.  But I thank you for the "lift-up" that your words have given me.  I hope your day was pleasant.
