You Learned To Love Women

what is this magnetism
to this creature
that from first breath drew you
to breast to drink her life
whom you leaned
strengthening and straightening backbone
there to be in time of need
and holds you forever tightly
in the comfort of acceptance
in clutch of fingers as lovers
what is this beauty she possesses
that could make her shed tears for you
ornaments simple edges with tenderness
a wisp of hair on thin of skin
knowing forever kisses deep
in a life that has learned that
some days are filled with unequal
but every day is filled with the courage of love

I love this poem, but what you describe is completely foreign to me.  My childhood was brief and not based on love.  I think I have managed to understand "mother" as an intellectual abstract unrelated in meaning for me to woman.

So, your poem helps me to understand more. Thank you.

i think men learn to love women in all stages of life and bring it back to us in how they love us...h

there was another line in the poem but i left it out when posting it the first time....

"a scent in all stages and ages
known across the darkness of the night"

and ice sorry to hear that...yet i find the opposite

adulthood has been a lack of it

and I found I showered my children with tons of it

and now I have some hope……they have learned to love....it being the legacy I give them for women to follow me
in their lives
