True Colours When you speak do you hear what you say? Have you understood the games you play? Don’t imagine that you are always good Or that you do all the things you should Within you there is a place that’s dark A place that’s lonely cold and stark Think before you cast an unkind word Would it be better if it stayed unheard? When you act in a way that isn’t kind Do you wonder what it does to a mind? How that act may harm or hurt a heart? Whether the pain of it will ever depart Sometimes the damage we unthinkingly do Causes someone pain their whole life through There is no reason to commit an act or deed That will plant such a deadly seed When you don’t do something good Does it make you squirm, as it should? Doesn’t the fact you’ve missed the chance To do something that makes a heart to dance Cause you sadness that you didn’t do Something to help another soul through Take each chance to give love and aid And cherish each and every friend you’ve made When your true colours are on display Make them shine brightly each and every day Let your true colours light the lives of all And answer lovingly to life’s challenge call Marsha Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds but I can face the future with courage brave and bold Footprints In My Heart Kethry [This message has been edited by Marsha (06-29-2003 06:44 AM).] |
