With Love to all - From Nan and Mysteria...

Mysteria was headed east
She hopped the plane at nine
She placed an order, “If you please,
I’ll need some warm sunshine…”

Got off of the plane a stressed out mess
The turbulence was scary.
But that was nothing … looked outside,
Their weatherman went hairy!

I picked her up in Providence,
I’d ordered her some sun
But torrents were our providence
There were no rays of sun…

Frivolity was not deterred
We stopped by Newport’s sea
And spent the night where she preferred
At Slocum’s B&B

I thought that meant a BED and BATH
But that made no real sense
The bedroom was the aftermath
The bathroom was immense

I rented it for the bathroom
Just see this fine décor
I wanted all this luxury
Enjoy, it cost me plenty more!

Then Belgian Waffles were her plan
Imagine her malaise…
Eggs Benedict were in the pan
“I don’t do hollandaise!!!”

I learned a lesson on that day
Don’t believe all that you read,
We wound up in a two-bit joint
Chowing down their feed.

We saw the mansions’ turrets reign
Then headed to Cape Cod
Through deluges as torrents rained
We two in my hot rod…

She drove down Newport’s “Farewell Street”
And much to our surprise
On each side of the street were graves
Old graves of every size!

On Monday morn we rose and shone
And headed up the shore
To see the gardens Marti’s honed
And shop in Boston’s stores

HayMarket with Mysteria
All afternoon to shop
The Secrets of Victoria
In bags filled to the top

She said “I do not need a thing,”
Then couldn’t lift her bag.
One hundred dollars she had spent
I think I saw Nan gag!

Back on the “T” to Kenmore Square
A Red Sox game to see
“Please check your bags in over there”
No entry through “Gate C”…

“Those guys from Golds will check your bags”
Over beside that door
I looked “over there” to see 3 guys
An alley, but no Gym or store!

I said to Nan, “There is no way”
Let me see what I can do,
I’ll squish them all into this purse
Just watch me when I’m through.”

We tried once more to get inside,
He said, “I’ll need to see your bag.”
Nan said, “Go ahead it’s Victoria’s Secret”
He twirled those undies like a flag… (slight hyperbole here)

Inside and up the stairs we went,
Our heads in Red Sox caps,
We met our hosts, Marti and Ron
Hotdogs and Bud upon our laps.

"Three strikes y’er out," the umpire yelled,
But Boston loves their team.
While old-time music rocked and rolled,
All of our faces beamed!

How nice it was to meet a friend
A Poet sweet and kind
The nicest hostess in BeanTown
That we could hope to find.

She’s making me Mysterical
But OH well, what the heck…
For she’ll become faNANtical
MyTucket’s our next trek!!

We went to the "Stop and Shop",
Imagine my surprise
They had PINK toilet paper,
I couldn't believe my eyes!

I bought all they had in sight
You should have seen Nan's face!
When I said, "oh well, tomorrow ...
I'll go back and get a case!

You know what's coming next right?
Having fun - wish you were here.

Hi Nan,

Glad to see you still reaching out and meeting other poets -- guess meeting me way back when wasn't quite as traumatic for you as I first thought.

Just wanted to stop in and say "hi" to you all -- even though I don't come around much anymore, you are all still close to my heart.

Wish you all well.

We've all been told don't mess around
With people from the net
Well, I've met some from here and there
And I've not one regret.

Now Boston loves it's sports teams
Fenway Park is always packed
But you should see what Sharon and Nan
Can stuff inside a sack.

We had a time, it was great fun
Their leaving left me sad
I'm trying to Cape Cod to get
And hang at Nan's new pad.

Ooops, a quick addendum
Imagine MY surprise
Whoever heard of toilet paper pink
The sun's tricking Sharon's eyes!!!!

Pink toilet paper by the case
Is heading out northwest
Imagine customs as they case
The bags of my fine guest...

Tomorrow is Nan'sTucket day
Through Martha's Vineyard Sound
Here's hoping that along the way
Our ferry's not aground

So please don't tell her yet, my friends
But shopping on the isle
Is where the "upper crust" might spend
Small fortunes for its style

I hope she's got stock in Fort Knox
It's lovely there indeed
A basket costs five hundred bucks
She may have to concede...

Good morning ladies ... My Ron was in stitches last reading your poems and loving all the replies!! He especially thought the case of pink toilet paper being shipped to Vancouver was an absolute riot.

My Mom is being released from the hospital today and for now will recoup at my sister's house. She's feeling and looking much better.

It's going to be a wild and fun weekend on NANtucket and I'll be looking forward to pictures and poetic giggles.

The crazy ladies of Cape Cod, Mass
Are having one big ball!
They're kind enough to feed us bits
Although I'm sure not all.

Who knows what these two get into
They don't want us to know
When foggy nights fill Cape Cod town
And one hears cold winds blow??

The stores, we know have been reduced
To little more than huts
And there's no toilet paper there
To wipe New England butts!

It's all been sent to Canada
Along with half the town.
All shopping malls have boarded up
Their front doors and shut down.

Like ghost towns of the early west
Deserted, empty now
One wonders if Mysteria
Had caused that, too, somehow.

Cape Cod will never be the same.
They're throwing in the towel
'Cause the crazy ladies of Cape Cod, Mass
Are loose and on the prowl!!!

The altitude seemed different here,
I couldn’t find a breeze.
It’s hot and sticky, really close,
Even in shorts above my knees

Once back from Boston on Cape Cod
We took some time to shop
The merchants gave a smile and nod
When they were our next stop

They’ve all restocked their shelves by now
It’s time to shop some more
But first we rode upon the bow
And ferried far offshore

We headed for Nantucket seas,
Three hours away by a ferry.
I finally found a little breeze
So salty, nice and airy.

The waves were grand the sun shone high
On Martha’s Vineyard Sound
Sang Chantey songs, ‘tis not a lie
We were Nantucket bound

I laid myself on that ship’s bow,
To seek some peace of mind.
The breeze was blowing gently,
As I started to unwind.

I think I slept an hour or two,
Then saw from far off shore.
I’d had enough sunshine for now,
I opted for no more.

We disembarked upon the wharf
The “Isle of Yesterday”
Mysteria began to morph
While on the “Lady Grey”
(Nantucket = “Grey Lady”)

We stayed this time at Hussey House
Another B&B
Her energy could not be doused
How ever could that be?

I felt a pounding in my head
And then I turned hot pink,
Soon it changed to vivid red,
I needed lots to drink.

There in the most exclusive place,
For presidents and kings,
But where was I? … there in my bed
Drinking bottles of Cold Springs.

It seems that we had missed the boat
To see First Lady Bush
And sitting at a local moat
Was Miss Lewinsky’s tush

I’d gotten heat stroke just like that,
So sad, but kind of funny.
My head inside a porcelain throne
A privilege costing me money!

I said to her, “Just rest a bit
For I’ve been here before…”
She said, “NO WAY, now up I’ll get…
Where was that great shoe store?”

I let it win for but a day,
Can’t get the best of me.
Stores galore were in that town
I’d flown so far to see!

I forced myself to trudge around,
And filled a bag or two.
“Come on, Nan, just one more block,
I’m really almost through!”

We covered every cobblestone,
Applying mind over matter,
I’m sure Nan’sTucketers all thought
This Canadian girl mad as a hatter!

I and deep-fried Mysteria
We dined out and we shopped
Exhaustion and Hysteria
Took over and she dropped

We loved the olden ambience
Gas lights and foghorns drone
Where local minstrels sing and dance
On streets of cobblestone

Enjoyed relaxing on the docks
This whaling town at sea
Its shoreline donned with Widow’s Walks
Is such a treat for me

So beautiful the island was,
So sad to say goodbye.
But next time I go there with Nan,
I’ve told her, “We will FLY!”

Ah, what a wonderful collaboration, ladies!
Beautiful flow, and full of wonderful glimpses of your journey.

… now …

Dear Sharon, I declare my dear,
I know why you turned pink …
Not sunstroke, nope … you just OD’d,
From toilet paper ink!

~*~

Just kidding,

I hope you’re feeling better. That sunstroke is no fun at all. You be well.

Love the pictures ladies (and rofl @ Michael’s poem).

Well now - we just got home and guess who bought 7 pairs of shoes - not moi - it was her!  LOL, she is finally getting the hang of this shopping   Funny though, she seems to be so happy at the time, but for some reason I see her crying in a towel when we get home.

Thanks for joining in our fun you guys, and I am not lying.  Nan actually bought 7 pairs of shoes!  Even I don't do that, well, not in one store anyway.

Mysteria and Nan, this is so good. I love the way ya'll are keeping us up-to-date with all your good times. Your poems are delightful.

Well, there sure does seem to be a lot of us "green" poets here, huh? I still wish we could have another big get-together, like I've heard ya'll talk about. That would be so much fun!!

Ya'll keep having fun and be careful.
Hugs to you both

You thought I was kidding right?  I dreamt about her manic episode in that shoe store, but I also was an accessory to that crime, but don't tell anyone okay?  See - here is her pile (notice she liked one pair so much she even bought two)

And...I am not even going to go into the trip to the 1st Craft Fair!

Man, I'm loving this.

By the way, I completely understand the shopping sprees.....I've been called a shopaholic myself. Isn't it fun? A friend of mine and I like to go to one of the Mall's in P'Cola to walk around and look at stuff. I've always loved to go into the tobacco store...pipe tobacco smells so good...even out of the pipe...and the candle store...oh, I love to smell those candles....and Victoria's Secret.....

ROFL …

*~*

There's seven pairs of shoes for Nan?!?!
I’ll bet I understand that plan …
She wore her others out you see,
From chasing Sharon, frantically!

Ethel - I absolutely LOVE Victoria's Secret, and that is a whole other poem about our visit to that store, LOL, Nan was not even going to go in, and she spent a $100 in about all of five minutes!  See, I am catchy

Well I went solo on this as Nan had to work today, but this is a true story, everywhere we went yesterday they ran out of whatever it was we wanted just seconds before I asked for it, everything!

~* In Search Of Lobster In Cape Cod *~

It was so hot and muggy
Not a breeze in ole Cape Cod.
I said, “Lets find us some seafood,
Maybe some lobster and scrod.”

The first place that we went to,
“Sorry no lobster, we just ran out!”
The second one’s steamer died
I was darn near ready to shout.

We settled for a small lobster
At Lobster Sam’s last night.
It had a good reputation
As far as lobster goes, it’s alright.

We picked up a bumble berry pie
Now we needed vanilla ice cream
So we hurried off to Friendly’s
Two girls with eye a gleam.

We’d save the pie for tomorrow,
For we saw all the sundaes there.
We took our seats in the parlour
Calories?  Who gives a care?

I decided I wanted a banana split
So when the waitress came.
I asked if it looked like the picture
She said, “Yup, the very same!”

She said, “I made your sundae
But we’re out of banana tonight,
Do you want to change it in,
I can make you something right?”

I said, "Give me that darn banana split
Everywhere I went in The Cape today
Seemed to run out of whatever I wanted
Please just feed me before I wane away!"

I got my banana split with no banana,
As She delivered Nan’s ice cream too,
Poor Nan, they messed up her order,
This has not been a great day it’s true.

Every single place today,
Ran out of our request,
Just seconds before we ordered,
Must be some kind of "Cape Cod Test.”

I want what I want, when I want it,
But they will get used to me,
I am here to complain two more weeks,
In wonderful Cape Cod by the sea.

When the going get tough...the tough get meek?
I have a feeling before it's all through
Mysteria will be smiling over Boston Bean Stew...

~*~

No lobster for your tummies???
No bananas for a treat???
How DARE they treat you ladies so …
In all that Cape Cod heat!!!

~*~

Oh, dear ... I can see you both now, lol ...

Having a fit for sure!

I hope tomorrow is a better day.

The heat wave broke here today … finally.
It’s been blazing hot and humid as heck.

I feel for ya …

Go have a jump in the ocean, you two … it’s bound to be refreshing (post some more pictures first though, lol)!

Love and hugs to you both,

How dare push our girls,
And mess with ice cream swirls.
But the lobsters gave you a break,
They saved you both a tummy ache.

As for the patience that was tested,
To prove you both were well rested,
It was meant to prove that you are saints,
Unless, of course, there were too many complaints.

Love you both for the fun you are sharing...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Well kids, I'm just killing myself laughing! You two seem to be having a run of 'out of luck' and I sure hope things improve.

Forget the food, head for the Hyannis Mall and shop till Nan drops!

Better find a cooool spot to be tomorrow; rumor has it that it's gonna be a real scorcher!

Your poems and accolades were just wonderful and we sure enjoyed them.  I feel a bit better knowing everyone is suffering in this heat now, or I think I do anyway.     High 80's and 90's is too much for this ocean gal.

Wind send us an email where you will be and perhaps we can link up to say hello if you like?

LOL Ed, I noticed it when I first read it, but after seeing that no-one else mentioned it.....well, I thought there were just "Hussey's" in the South. LOL

Mysteria, I'm like PdV, I'm wondering why ya'll aren't showing us pictures of the Victoria's Secret shopping trip, too? LOL

I love this, and am looking forward to the next two weeks. No telling what going to happen next.  LOL

Mysteria, the "High 80's and 90's is too much for this ocean gal."  Do I remember that...from when I was once a little CA gal on the coast...

don't come to Kansas, as much as Dorothy, Toto and I would love to have you...

you couldn't stand the 105 temps and 95% humidity...

You just have to follow me
To "Insights" in "Mature."
Trust me, you won't want to miss
This posting, that's for sure.

Nan and I went to Provincetown
She finally found me speechless
So I wrote about it in "Insight"
Writing it in Open seemed so useless.

You will have to be old enough
to tag along on this trip we took,
I must say that this one
Really is one for the book!

Nan will be writing a much "better one"
As only she can do,
But I posted my version of what I saw
As I wanted to share it with you.

LOL, come on into Insights in Mature and follow us on the last of our journey.  Our summer tour ends Saturday morning and regardless of any email you got with her screaming I know she is gonna miss my antics
