The wheel of fortune spins anti-clockwise
and brings back again the times of before
bestowed like a gift and donation in kind
to hold and secure my feet to the ground.

Earth shivers and shakes; how can it be me
sensible, sane, with unsteady gait
unsure, unsettled, separated, alone,
not toeing the line of reality?

I pray, perhaps - does anyone pray
these days when life is wished far away?

very interesting write Helen
I liked that 'toeing the line of reality' bit, and the anti-clockwise reference to time.

Hi Helen!

Prayer, like poetry, takes many forms.

This is a wonderful concept: to spin the great wheel in reverse.  I flashed on H.G. Wells immediately

LOVED IT!

Oh my goodness! I have a poem in the rough that I had been working on and the first line of it is "The Wheel of Fortune spins..."
I guess it's true what they say about great minds thinking alike!

Loved your poem Bunches, Honey!

Warm hugs,

Thank you all for taking the time to read and to comment. Yes, great minds do think alike and I think we may all be more than a little surprised if we really knew how connected we are to each other - known and unknown.  I too believe we can't go forwards until we've gone backwards and maybe one day it will all be worth it.

Need I say more?

Some women wait for something to change and nothing does, so they change themselves.

I once wrote a whole series of conversations with a woman in a wicker chair on the front porch.     She said a lot!  Thanks for reading.
