“BAYOU LOVING”
by
Bill Charles
~~~~
Sometimes deep inside the cypress swamp,
where the breezes haunt, blows quietly,
some Cajun women walk in the darkness,
barefoot like a ghost, no noise, stealthy…
Alligators slink out of the way, possum’s leave,
they want no part of the woman that glides,
for she’s coming to meet her lover tonight,
where the water dark changes with the tides…
In the light of candle moon shadows deep,
herself she’ll give with desires strong within,
a Voodoo’s touch of her bayou loving magic,
together under the devil’s moon with him…
Bill, even the alligators and possums leave?
Hmmm, you are going to tell us more about
your experiences, aren't you?  LOL
You have touched on a very special place in my childhood. South of New Orleans on an island I learned the way of the swamp. Many times I heard tales of the women who walked the swamp looking for her love. I never saw her only sensed her. Strange but as an adult, I still believe. Thank you for reminding me of such a happy time in my life. Your words are so beautifully written.
Bill...My favorite subject the Bayou...the blues lingering in the mist of the Devil's Moon. I still keep the poem you e-mailed to me and read it often. This poem seems to fit hand in hand with that one. Great poem!!!
I knew you could mix darkness and romance
(they kind of go together now dont they?)
Amazing
