I've often wondered what you're doing,
How you've been, where you'll go.
Six years of being on your own
Since your divorce and I said no.

I've wasted precious moments
thinking of what could have been
If I had left my world behind
and started with you again.

Did you finally make it big
In New York with your art gallery?
Or did you make that move to Australia,
Fed up with U.S. government and military?

I still have a few of the portraits of me
You seemed to catch me in the right light
I kept every song you wrote for me
I listen sometimes late at night.

I guess you took me seriously
When I told you I couldn't decide
Seemed my husband and your wife
And the timing wasn't on our side.

I hope to see your work one day
As I'm strolling through a town
Maybe I'll see your portrait of me
When my smile wasn't so much a frown.

Some people just seem to stick in your mind, even when the timing is wrong.
A wistful kind of write, as if you really d hope he will show up someday.
Or it could just be poetry?

Carolina - your thoughts are very real, or as was said, is it poetry only...

Oh, my thoughts are VERY real in this one.  I spend alot of my days thinking of the "what if's".  And I really have his art hanging on my wall.  Hubby was on deployment when they were done, and I don't have the heart to tell him the details of how they came about.  I always knew he'd make it big one day, in his own way, his own time.  But he was always a dreamer, and I seemed to be the one that caused him nightmares. Now I seem to be the dreamer.  I have this gut feeling that he's made a name for himself, wherever he went.  His work was too good for someone not to notice.  I can always say that I was the one that gave him his wings to fly.  I just didn't realize at the time that I was too scared to fly with him.
