Chicken Soup is Tasteless

I used to be a dreamcatcher
collecting vespers in threads of hair
where the moon dripped smiles to milk skin
and peter pan winked my eyes in the bend of flight.

But, I find no meaning in wishing well sky
and winged lashes laugh not against cheek
but, rather place a tear on porcelain memory
cracked by a thousand regrets.

I should have read the fine print
before I signed with blood.

I have failed to make a dent in the world,
I am an accident of birth
of careless lust and unplanned consequence
wearing the stained seep of my mother’s loss.

And, even the worst scene
in a horror movie
makes me laugh;
that’s tame, mercy-killing
compared to the way
how every day guts me
and leaves me to soak
this flesh of deficiencies.

No, you cannot know this pain
of youth wasted
of numbs’ finality.
I am aged, forever changed.

I’ve learned that faith
isn’t as black and white
as it always seems,
that leper legs can’t run through
colour-coated dreams.
I wanted miracles yesterday
and it’s hard to accept that today
has come empty handed,
as nothing leads to nothing leads to nothing.

If only once more
would the moon let me borrow his smile,
fingertips would play the stars as lovers,
then I’d be beautiful for a while.
But, there is no life in living
the knife that slices down to the bone,
and, death will be a salvation,
I am merely, existing alone.

But, most of all, I’ve lost the hunger,
that appetite for cope
of anorexic hope that time or TLC can’t afford to cure
because I’ve swallowed my tongue in scream
and chicken soup is tasteless.

An old soul
in a young heart...
we've always known,
and enjoy the
show of it.

Damn! Try chili instead mmmmm chili, mind you i f it's 5alarm its hot enough to sear your tastebuds therby rendering them tasteless so that would defeat the purpose. You want tasteless? Anybody who thinks Ben Affleck is a good actor or actually spent money to see Too Fast Too Furious without a gun to their head. Ok I'm done ranting..what were we talking about? I like eggs......

This one goes to the library for sure. You are amazing (but anyone who can handle Raph and Ball-Deer must be anyway)

I said I'm going to buy a gun and start a war,

A most excellent write... I was grabbed by this part most:
--------
If only once more
would the moon let me borrow his smile,
fingertips would play the stars as lovers,
then I’d be beautiful for a while.
--------

please keep writing and sharing...

Melissa:

this is by far your best

If only once more
would the moon let me borrow his smile,
fingertips would play the stars as lovers,
then I’d be beautiful for a while.

the knife that slices down to the bone,
and, death will be a salvation,

Your life appears to be so hopeless, tasteless and futile...

--but you're not seeing how absolutely brilliant your talent for writing is! That alone can make a life shine with so much light and purpose!

Gosh, Melissa! You can write!!!

Loving hugs,

Melissa,
You are gifted, you can tell the difference between the real and unreal. Or so I must asume by the beautiful words you write. And although you fly you are caught in a net.
A net of your own choosing. I would you choose a free sky and a free I.

This is so beautiful. The images are strong and evocative. And tragic. I love this one.
