An empty shell,
is she cast upon the beachhead
as a joke
for me to laugh at,
or as a souvenir
for me to store in faded cut-offs,
as a trophy for the time I wasted
wondering about what died
inside the shell?

Yanno? Often that will make it hard to appreciate that which is left.

But you could always just give it a sniff...

Good, once again.

sometimes it's best just to enjoy it, as is, without extra layers of thoughts

Once again, you take an image, and make it your own, then generously hand it over to US.

Thank you, m'friend.

Ice,  even the wilted rose still has the
smell of beauty.

Excellent write,  you certainly have a way
of saying so much.

wranx ~ *laugh* A dog I raised many years ago absolutely lived for the beach days.  She would sniff every dead thing on the sand until she found the perfect scent.  Then she would roll in it until she was disgusting and she would walk proud.  I think I'll pass on sniffing.  Thank you for the thought.

Midnitesun ~ True.  Sometimes empty shells seem to hurl themselves at me.

serenity blaze ~ If it is not worth giving away, it is not worth having. *smile*

Magnus ~ Well, that is true, but see the note to wranx above. *smile*

Martie ~ I am glad you enjoyed this.  We do not all become empty shells.

Ratleader ~ I'd go for laugh any time.  Thanks.

QjQ ~ I am glad you liked this. Thank you for reading.

Ice:

I collect them: shells, rocks, driftwood
because I always question just
where they have traveled to
to find their way
into in my hands
I loved this
