in the shadows

I feel the wings of the morning
moving through my mind
down a road paved by the sun.

I hear the laughter of the children
standing by me
as they mock the things I've done.

I see the shadow of an evil
rising over me
with lightning in its hand.

I sense the power of the wind
rushing past me as I stand
against the fury of the land.

I know the troubles of the minds
all gone before me
down pathways I've been on.

I keep the memories of travelers
I loved along the way
though now they're gone.

I dream a fantasy of happiness
waiting just beyond me
as the skies are turning gray.

I feel the wings of the morning
moving through my mind
gone to bring another day.

To feel, hear, see, sense, know, keep, dream and back to feel makes a circle but how to stay grounded while going round can sometimes be difficult.  Your writing, as usual, is "captivating".

Yep, we always have the hope of another day, don't we.....as long as there is breath, there's hope!!

(Pssssstttt!!!  I wasn't going to mention it, but that title is another whole poem in itself...it could be made serious or humourous.)
