Death of a Peacemaker (Of John Lennon's death)

Five piercing shots rang death
In chill of New York night
With gasp of his last breath
Peacemaker lost his fight

As song of guru’s peace
Play softly in my mind
With voice forever ceased
No peace a nation find

A half million unite
In fields of Central Park
An attempt to make right
His murder in the dark

Of moment’s reckoning
Ten minutes for you still
Then generation sings
Of a man’s peaceful will

This day I imagine
How a peaceful world be
For what should, could have been
Through his words I can see

Remember peace he taught
For calm, my angel brings
And in your pause of thought
Hear mantra he still sings

...Imagine all the world living life in peace...
-John Lennon

ah..tragedies such as his death and the deaths of others have an impact..and are often difficult to understand or come to terms with in your own mind...

nicely done patricia... you seem to be visiting the eras past and finding inspire in the events of those times..

One of these days, I'll get you to travel back to the 1860's with me....

Nice job, Patricia.  We often read the history, but it lacks the compassion of emotion...

Nicely done, Patricia. BTW, I listen to that one JL tune at least once a week, as I imagine....

His message of peace is still heard to this day and I'm sure it grows stronger.  He was able to say so much through his words and music and had such an impact on so many, myself included.  Thank you Patricia for this very moving, yet wonderful tribute.
